Tibet Travel Guide | Gyantse

Gyantse lies on a historical trade route between India and Tibet. It has long been a crucial link for traders and pilgrims journeying across the Himalayan plateau. It is the fourth largest city in Tibet but has managed to hang on its small-town charm and laid back atmosphere.

The most famous attraction here is Gyantse Kumbum the largest Chorten in Tibet. This white Chorten encloses a seemingly endless series of mural-filled chapels and offers awesome views from its upper levels. The Pelkhor Chode Monastery is located at the foot of the Tsong Hill in the northwest of Gyantse is another famous attraction. You may also take a trip to little visit monasteries or wander around the back streets of the town.
