Langtang Trekking – Embrace A Visit To The Langtang Valley

Just north of Kathmandu is the region that is one of the popular Langtang trekking in Nepal. While trekking in this region you will get an opportunity to visit remote villages, glaciers at a comfortable low elevation. You will be delivered with the most amazing views in the short time. The highlights of Langtang treks embrace a visit to the Langtang valley, Kyangin Gompa, Langtang Gompa, many yaks detected on alpine meadows and Langtang Lirung ice mass. In Langtang treks you’ll additionally climb to the Lang Sisa Peak and visit Lake Gosaikunda, that is close this trekking. Langtang could be a slim vale lying south of the Tibetan border. The valley lies between main Himalaya vary to the north and tiny snowy peaks to the south.

Day 1 Arrival - Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu. The small, mountain-sheltered Kathmandu valley is the historical center of Nepal. This capital city of the country awakens with prayer, the tinkling of the bells and chanting. This city has long been a cultural and racial melting pot, with people coming from all part of the country. Famous for its sacred temples, biggest Stupas and stunning Newari architecture it is the place never to be missed by cultural enthusiasts.

Meeting and assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Our representative will collect necessary photographs for necessary trek permit and provide trek briefing. Rest of the day is free.

Day 2 Kathmandu

Morning, tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square referred to as an old city. Most of the temples which you visit here today are a mere three or four centuries old, the bequest of Malla kings. Visit Kumari Chowk home of Kathmandu’s living goddess who comes out to the balcony to greet the audience. Visit Kasthamandap, which is one of the oldest wooden buildings in world. This site has been declared as one of the UNESCO world heritage site.

Continue on to the Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath also referred as “Monkey temple”. Situated on the top of the hill west of Kathmandu, this is one of the popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. From its hilltop settings offers a bird eye view of Kathmandu valley. It is particularly striking on the early evening when city lights start illumination.

Afternoon, tour of second largest town in the valley Patan. Patan Durbar Square forms heart of Patan. This city is referred as “City of Beauty”. With its long Buddhist history, the four corners of city are marked by Stupas said to have been erected by great Buddhist emperor Ashoka. The concentrated mass of temples here are undoubtedly most stunning display of Newari architecture to be seen in Nepal.

Day 3 Kathmandu - Syabrubensi (1550m/7 hrs drive)

Morning, drive to Syabrubensi, through the paved highway that twists and climbs over the ridges to the Trishuli valley. After lunch at the Trishuli valley continue to Dhunche then descend to Syabrubensi.

Day 4 Syabrubensi - Lama Hotel (2380m/6 hrs)

The trail descends along the ridge of Syabru’s main Bazaar, following a suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi. Continue your walk to the old settlement of Old Syabru. You will trek through the few settlements, forest abundant with birds. If lucky you may glimpse red panda and Himalayan black bear. The trail then makes a steep climb over a rocky ridge. The route crosses to the north bank of Langtang river, then climbs alongside a series of waterfalls, through the sparser and drier forest. Descend gently to Changtang, popularly known as Lama Hotel.

Day 5 Lama Hotel - Langtang Village (3430m/6 hrs walk)

The trail climbs steeply (in some places very steep). You will have an enticing view of Langtang Lirung (7246m) appearing through the trees. You will then reach Ghora Tabela (2970m). From here the trail climbs more gradually to Langtang village. This village is the headquarters for Langtang National Park. The houses in this region is a Tibetan-style flat roof and are surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of potatoes, wheat, buckwheat, turnips, and barley.

Day 6 Langtang Village - Kyanjin Gompa (3870m/4 hrs walk)

Today the trail passes through the yak pastures as the valley becomes border passing through a wooden bridge then climbs to Kyangin Gompa. Visit the famous cheese factory. There are interesting walks from the Gompa.

Day 7 Kyangin Gompa - Kyanjin Ri (4773m) - Tsergo Ri (4984m) - Kyangin Gompa

Spend the day hiking up the moraine. There is a spectacular view of Langtang Lirung and the foot of one of its major glacier. There are two viewpoints in the area which you can visit. Either visit Kyanjin Ri which is a two hour climb or longer excursion is to Tsergo Ri a four hours climb from Kyangin Gompa. Both of these viewpoints are visible from Kyangin Gompa and prayer flags mark their top. Return back to Kyangin Gompa.

Day 8 Kyangin Gompa - Lama Hotel

Today trek down following the same route to Lama Hotel.

Day 9 Lama Hotel - Syabrubensi

Trek back to Syabru Bensi.

Overnight at local lodge/tea house in Syabru Bensi.

Day 10 Syabru Bensi - Kathmandu (6 hrs drive)

Today drive back to Kathmandu. Rest of the day is free.

Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 11 Kathmandu - Departure

Free till departure. Transfer to the airport at time to connect your onward flight.
