Are you ready for the Everest Base Camp Trek?

The Everest Base Camp trek, goes through the native Sherpa homeland, passing through the numbers of stunning attractions. The trek starts in Nepali-speaking Hindu lowlands and ends in the Tibetan-Buddhist highlands. Furthermore, pass deep into Buddhist Sherpa country as you glimpse into the devoted and hardworking lifestyles of the Sherpas, and get stunning views of some of the world’s most sublime peaks. This trek rewards you with spectacular scenery and outgoing people of this region.

The trek starts from Lukla and climbs to Namche Bazaar which is a modern say Sherpa capital as you further ascends the trek cuts across the valleys and reaches the staggering height of 5643 meters at Kala Patthar, a small peak offering breathtaking views of the Everest and other himalayan mountains.

If you are a beginner trekker or just interested to see the Himalayas up close, then the Everest Panorama Trek might be more suitable option for you.

Best time for Everest Base Camp Trek

The best season for this trek is spring and autumn. During April-May and even in mid-June, the weather won’t be cold as winter. So that you can get a clear view of the peak. After that September-November, the weather will be neither rainy nor cold. Due to which you will get a small opportunity to view the best state of Everest. During this season, there will be more climbers than during another season.

If you want to get a clear view of the Mt.Everest then trek during these two ideal periods of time. You will get an amazing panorama view of Mt.Everest. According to many climbers, these time intervals are the best time for mountaineers to climb the Mt.Everest.

Day 1: Arrival – Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, meeting, and assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Later, briefing at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2,800m)

Early morning, transfer to the domestic airport in Kathmandu for catching the flight to Lukla.

We commence the trek to Phakding (3.5 hrs walk), descending steeply on the trail from Lukla to Thado Khola, crossing the local suspension bridge. Meet your first ‘yaks’, wonderful shaggy beasts that create lumbering mobile roadblocks on the trail. The trail passes through Ghat (2530m) on to the bank of the Dudh Koshi river and climbs to Phakding.

Day 3: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Today trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (6 hrs walk).

The trail from Phakding passes through a number of waterfalls. Glimpse Wonderful peak of Thamserku (6618m). Pass through Benker, Monjo, and Jorsale crossing the entrance of Everest National park. The trail crosses Dudh Koshi river on a suspension bridge that is at a dizzying height above the river.

Day 4: Namche Bazaar

Acclimatization is important before proceeding to a higher altitude.

We will spend the day taking a hike to Thami or just by relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar. Historically Namche Bazaar was a staging point for expeditions over the Nagpa LA into Tibet with loads of manufacturing goods from India.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar - Tengboche (3,870m)

Today, we trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (6 hrs walk).

The route from Namche to Tengboche is direct, reasonably level. We may get a glimpse of Himalayan Thar on the hillside below the trail early morning. We will pass through several Gompas, schools along our trail till we reach Khumjung. From Khumjung, the trail goes eastwards down the valley, continuously passing picturesque mani walls and chortens. Overnight at a local lodge/tea house in Tengboche.

Day 6: Tengboche - Dingboche (4,369m)

Today trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (6 hrs walk).

From Tengboche trail passes through the forest of birches, conifers, and rhododendrons. If we are lucky we can see the Nepalese National bird, the Himalayan monal (Impeyan pheasant), which lives only in high altitude. High above we can see goshawks, Himalayan griffons, the golden eagle circling the mountains.

Day 7: Dingboche

Spending a day in Dingboche will help us acclimate to the high altitude. Instead of staying idle, we climb a ridge located behind the village and see six of the world’s tallest peaks including Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. Furthermore, we can also admire Cholatse and Taboche peaks. On our north-west we see more Himalayan peaks rising above the Khumbu Khola Valley. Among those peaks, Lobuche West, Lobuche East and Lhotse are the most dominant. From another location on the ridge we can also admire the picturesque Imja Khola Valley and the beautiful Dingboche village.

Day 8: Dingboche - Lobuje (4,940m)

Today trek from Dingboche to Lobuje (4 hrs walk).

Trek climbs to Duglha (4620m), climbing up the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and further on higher on the moraine to a row of stone monuments in memory of six Sherpa who died on the avalanche during 1970.

Day 9: Lobuje - Gorak Shep (5,160m) - Everest Base Camp (5,364m) - Gorak Shep

The first section of the trail from here follows the western side of the board.

Khumbu Valley and ascends gently through meadows beside the glacial moraine. The trail makes a short descent onto the sandy, flat expanse of Gorak Shep. Then, the hike to Everest Base Camp is approx. 5 hrs trip. The route follows the Khumbu Glacier, sometimes on the moraine and sometimes on the Glacier itself. Later, trek down to Gorak Shep (8 hrs walk).

Day 10: Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar (5,445m) - Pheriche (4,243m)

Early morning, hike to Kala Pattar. Early morning, hike to a peak of Kala Patthar meaning ‘Black Rock’ for the best view of Mount Everest.

During the ascent to Kala Patthar, we can pause to catch a breath at several outstanding viewpoints from where we can snap great pictures We will view first rays of light over Mt. Everest. Later trek down to Pheriche (7 hrs walk)

Dinner and overnight at local lodge/tea house in Pheriche.

Day 11: Pheriche - Namche Bazzar

Today, the walk from Pheriche back to Tengboche is mostly downhill, although it does require an hour scaling a hill. We’ll be in Namche by late afternoon and off to bed before our last day on the mountain.

Day 12: Namche - Phakding - Lukla

This is your last day of the trek as you arrive Lukla, the descent is a bit rough to the knees, but warmer climate offers an opportunity to finally shed down-filled jackets and woolen jumpers. Overnight at local lodge/tea house in Lukla.

Day 13: Lukla - Kathmandu

Early morning, transfer to the domestic airport in Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel.

Day 14: Kathmandu

The day is at your leisure for shopping and other personal activities.

Evening, transfer to an authentic Nepali restaurant for a farewell dinner with cultural shows. After dinner, transfer back to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 15: Kathmandu - Departure

Free until departure and transfer to the airport in time for your final departing flight.
